Flood Risk Communication Using ArcGIS StoryMaps

In Canada, flooding is the most common and costly natural hazard. Flooding events significantly impact communities, damage infrastructures threaten public security. Communication, as part of a flood risk management strategy, an essential means countering these threats. It therefore important to develop new innovative tools communicate with citizens. From this perspective, use story maps can be very effectively implemented for broad audience, particularly stakeholders. This paper details how interactive web-based map was set up current future risks in Petite-Nation River watershed, Quebec (Canada). web technology application combines informative texts on watershed. Flood climate were generated using GARI tool, geographic information system (GIS) supported by ArcGIS Online (Esri). Three change scenarios developed Hydroclimatic Atlas Southern used visualize potential impacts. study concluded that our efficient hazard communication tool. The assets mapping tool are numerous, namely user-friendly mapping, interaction, customizable displays.
